The M+Museum, located in the West Kowloon Cultural District of Hong Kong, has become one of the new cultural and artistic landmarks in Hong Kong.
Some architectural spaces, such as Tate Modern in London, England, are places I have often visited during my past travels; Some projects have not yet reached their feet, such as the Italian Stone House, which was designed and renovated in the early years.
Before the speech, I had a special drink of bythesea and marveled at the beauty of Victoria Harbour.
Jacques Herzog (left) brought a wonderful opening speech to this PradaFrames seminar.
Stone House, Tavole, Italy, Project 1982, Realization 1985-1988 Serpentine Gallery Pavilion, Project and Realization 2011-2012, above image: https://www.herzogdemeuron.com/ Throughout the speech, I deeply felt that Jacques Herzog emphasized the architect’s respect for the region, environment, and city where the building is located.
The workshop explored the complex interaction between design, art, and the environment.
Jacques Herzog reviewed and introduced some of the architectural projects that architectural firm Herzog&de Meuron participated in on a time axis.
During the two-day seminar, I met Jacques Herzog, a famous architect from Herzog&de Meuron, an architectural firm that designs the M+Museum, and listened to his sharing of architectural art, local culture, and different architectural projects.
I would like to share with you: Jacques Herzog (center) came to the foundation of PradaFrames architecture.
M+is dedicated to collecting, displaying, and interpreting the visual arts, design, and architecture of the 20th and 21st centuries, moving images, and visual culture of Hong Kong.
Keri Ryan welcomes global audiences to M+, and this is my second visit to the Museum of Modern Visual Art next to this promenade.
From the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion in London to the M+, I feel that Jacques Herzog always has a design core in his heart: that is, a symbiosis between architecture and the city and environment where he is located.
After three years of epidemic prevention, during the 2023 Hong Kong Basel Art Exhibition, M+finally welcomed more world audiences.
The M+Museum, which is filled with contemporary architectural styles, has a minimalist decoration style, and attracts people’s attention during the pandemic, has become the first global contemporary visual culture museum in Asia.
This symbiosis is not only about the “interaction” between architecture and the environment.
In addition to Jacques Herzog’s opening speech, this Prada Frames seminar also brought two other discussions: Sea States and Reconceiving Material Circulation.
This brought me a lasting aftertaste and endless reflection on my entire art week trip.
Ms.
He believes that” deconstruction “is only a way of contemporary architectural design, and” many architects are often trapped in such a way and cannot extricate themselves.
When I stepped into Grand Stair, the magnificent harbour sea view in the evening seemed to be a perfect backdrop for this Prada Frames seminar.
In addition to emphasizing the echo and resonance between architecture and the environment, it also seeks to make the architecture itself a part of the “on the ground”, and finally, together with the on the ground environment, it conveys architectural thinking and the beauty of design, and even evokes our inner thoughts about huge themes such as anthropology and philosophy.
During the 2023 Basel Art Exhibition in Hong Kong last week, I also attended the Prada Frames Seminar held by Prada at the M+Museum in the West Kowloon Cultural District of Hong Kong.
The preserved power station tower has instead become the most obvious symbol of Tate Modern today.
.
Take the familiar British Tate Modern as an example.
Keri Ryan, who presided over the opening speech on the same day, said, “Although I am an Australian, there is a world audience sitting here.” As art and design reunite and gather, everyone exclaimed that Hong Kong, a metropolis that has always been full of miracles and energy, continues to exude lasting charm after the epidemic.
The following are some of my gains from listening to the speech and participating in the next two discussions.
“In the huge self architectural language family gradually formed by Herzog&de Meuron, those seemingly revealing fantastic ideas, Even modern architecture, which is flying in the sky, is born and grows according to the “local nature” in which it is located.
This is a photo taken by me during my visit to M+in February this year.
Artists, scientists, and architectural designers from different fields were invited to share their creations, design projects, and perspectives with us on topics such as ocean and environmental protection, sustainable development, inheritance and protection of local handicrafts, and how to turn old materials into treasures to bring new energy to daily life.
“He also maintains a cautious attitude towards the” deconstruction “approach adopted in contemporary architectural design.
In the early years, abandoned urban areas and factory sites were transformed into a museum of modern art by Herzog&de Meuron.
Architect Jacques Herzog gave a wonderful speech with the title “Found”.
