The project “Blossom” is a special school designed to meet the unique needs of autistic children.
The following will show the works of the Graduation Exhibition of Architecture (BSc) and Master (MArch) of the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering of Bath University in 2022.
In order to solve this problem, the team decided to design a language school to serve the diversified local community.
Therefore, the atrium becomes the core of the scheme.
The competition is open to mixed discipline groups from architecture and engineering courses, and each group plays a different role in the design team.
One of the key elements of our design and sustainable development strategy is to retain the existing building.

Judges’ comments: The judges believe that this is a well thought out scheme with delicate graphic expression.
However, the current social system, which ostensibly advocates moral inclusion, is in fact a highly exclusive society – because most designs only consider the needs of sound individuals, more and more autistic children become increasingly difficult to obtain high-quality education.
Because they can’t go to school normally, it makes the situation of autistic children’s long-term life in adulthood more difficult.
The task of the team is to design a museum with permanent and temporary exhibition spaces that can reflect and represent values.

The full-time undergraduate course in architecture at Bath University lasts for 4 years, including internship.

The requirement of the student project is to design an immigration museum, which is located in a site opposite King’s Cross Station, Euston Road, London.
The roof of the expanded part originates from the team’s desire to use the north light on the top floor art exhibition space, and the seamless connection of the three building volumes: exhibition space, atrium and front tower.
Under the protection of nature, this “home away from home” actively encourages children to go out of their comfort zone and celebrate social interaction, progress and growth.
