Municipal Public Building Design: Gerland Aquatic Center/Old Renovation in France

The Gerland swimming pool was built by the 1899 Rome Grand Prize winning architect Tony Garnier in 1932 and is listed as a protected object by the French Historical Monuments Authority.

It has recently undergone a comprehensive renovation.

The project is located within the Matmut Stadium de Gerland complex in Lyon, and the design team has reimagined the “athlete area” created but not completed by Tony Ganier.
