Melbourne Re public is an experimental expansion project designed for existing public facilities in Melbourne, including Queen Victoria Market and Carlton Gardens.
This is a design experiment that criticizes public buildings, establishing a set of “global localization design methods” through philosophical thinking on time, space, and culture.
It critically analyzes the place, extracts elements from it, and after redesign, resets them back to the place and establishes connections, thereby achieving the “re publicization” of the original public project.
In this process, the new design connects the existing public buildings with the community, residents, and constantly changing surrounding environment, creating a new platform for showcasing the past, present, and future of the community.
