In the autumn of 2020, Zhixiang architecture was invited to participate in “Shenzhen Conservatory of music”, one of the “ten new cultural buildings in Shenzhen” International competition of scheme design
. 
This is the only international scheme bidding of similar level that we are determined to participate in in nearly eight years after “Pingshan cultural settlement”
. 
The biggest challenge we face may not come entirely from the architectural design itself
. 
Under the premise of fierce competition and high expectations of all parties, can architects still face the practical problems and make an accurate and appropriate design? Or do we need to adjust the strategy so that the design can stand out in an instant when many schemes are juxtaposed and compared? In this competition, we try to answer three questions: first, what kind of campus space is needed for music and art education in this era? Second, how to understand and establish the sharing relationship between music and art education space and contemporary cities? Third, how can nature be introduced into the campus in Longgang, Shenzhen, a place close to mountains and rivers? Finally, we choose to understand the construction scale of 120000 square meters as a campus composed of building community and open space, rather than a huge single building with strong “landmark”
. 
In this campus, we can set up, penetrate, surround and other space operations, so that people’s life can truly and sunlight, wind, air, plants, landscape vision to achieve the greatest degree of integration
. 
All kinds of exclusive functional space, public space and semi outdoor space can promote rich activities related to music and art, and encourage teachers, students and visiting citizens to meet, coexist and communicate in the space
. 
We extract a variety of teaching and living spaces with shared characteristics in contemporary music and art campus buildings, such as library, 24-hour study room, group discussion area, public piano room, coffee shop, leisure area, outdoor runway, public retail, etc., and integrate them into a continuous circular building in the center of the campus, fully encouraging the formation of freedom between teachers and students, disciplines and urban society The atmosphere of academic exchange and cultural sharing of the University
.

College dormitories and teachers’ apartments on the ground floor are built in the north of Universiade Park, along the mountains, with a panoramic view of the forest

The administrative office building and gymnasium, which have relatively low demand for sound insulation, are used as sound insulation barriers to establish the external image of the campus at the city interface on one side of Yanlong Avenue
. 
The layout of the main buildings conforms to the natural terrain and occupies the most reasonable terrain
. 
They are distributed around the ring buildings in the site and connected with the central ring through the corridor bridges
. 
In the campus, we have set up an open space system, which is composed of entrance square, climbing path and roof theater, landscape waterfront space, roof green runway and courtyard system
. 
Among them, the courtyard system includes the central ring “inner courtyard”, the “tree courtyard” in the teaching building group, and the enclosed “mountain courtyard” in the dormitory
. 
We try to build different levels of publicity in the campus space to achieve a diversified atmosphere of music and art campus culture, as well as campus cultural facilities The sharing of educational achievements at the city level
. 
The campus open space, natural landscape and performance building are fully opened to the city on the ground floor, which can accommodate all kinds of formal and informal performance exchange activities

On the ground level, the landscape water system is based on the existing Longqing water pipeline and flood drainage channel, and the landscape axis of the campus waterfront is set along the east-west direction

The water system is connected with shenxianling reservoir and extends eastward into the middle of the campus to form a still water lake

To the north of the lake are dormitory buildings arranged in accordance with the terrain, with a U-shaped plane facing the mountain landscape

Walking around the campus, teachers and students can look at the mountains through the bottom floor of the dormitory building and the outdoor activity floor in the middle
. 
In the performance building, the public streamline leading to the outdoor theater on the roof gradually climbs along the urban interface like a climbing trail
. 
Together with the 400 meter long circular green runway on the top of the central ring, the most distinctive and humanistic green public space in the campus is constructed.
