UCL Bartlett Excellent Architectural Works Collection | Suggest Replacing HS2 Railway with Zero Carbon Towns

The land designated for the railway will be transformed into a landscape oriented urban master plan aimed at creating a “green knowledge economy” that promotes natural, sustainable development, and inclusive wealth.

Assini’s project is known as the reincarnation of HS2, based on his skepticism about the potential benefits of high-speed railways connecting London and the Central region discovered in his research.

It drafted a sustainable urban framework master plan and created a symbolic building infrastructure system, This large-scale infrastructure project may lead to “middle-class transformation, displacement, or loss of existing urban heritage”, rather than continuing with such large-scale infrastructure projects, focusing more on local needs.

It is particularly noteworthy that the Guardian’s criticism of this expensive infrastructure project prompted Assini to propose an alternative solution, including transforming the HS2 route into a green corridor that accommodates housing and sustainable business.

Assini said, “Using the HS2 project as a case study, it aims to propose an alternative construction for a ‘country that serves all’ – a blueprint for change in the current context of national uncertainty.” The design narrative directly reflects the difficulties faced by the UK.

Suggests replacing HS2 railway with zero carbon towns Damien Assini UCLbartlett graduate Damien Assini suggested that the British government redistribute the funds of HS2 railway and create a natural landscape containing carbon free modular housing and green economy instead.

The waste management facility will use anaerobic digestion to recycle organic waste and generate green energy
.

Implementing a tree management plan will provide an important source of building materials, with wood used to build necessary infrastructure, including housing, schools, and hospitals.

According to local needs, towns with carbon free modular houses will be constructed in stages along the route, with special attention paid to balancing financial inequality across all regions.

In the first 25 years of this project, a huge plantation consisting of local forest land, farmland, and wetlands will be built, extending along the route to provide habitats for animals and plants across the country.

The mobile ‘educational cabin’ is also part of the proposal, providing vocational training and enabling the education system to relocate to meet regional needs.
