The project is located in Hawthorne, a suburb of Melbourne, on a narrow plot of land designed and built by architects for a family of five.

Facing north along the street, such architectural designs usually use a single volume at the front and a south facing opening at the back, resulting in insufficient lighting.

Temple House is different from many modern buildings in that the focus of the architecture shifts behind the scenes, allowing the space to naturally present itself.
