Landscape Design of Three Buildings around the West Lihu Greenway in Shenzhen/Original Works by Tongji University

In the winding network of the Xili Lake Greenway in Shenzhen, the south side of Baiwang Village was once a “lost land” tightly fenced off – about 4 hectares of land, beneath which were buried runoff and initial rainfall storage tanks that shoulder the responsibility of urban water management.

The rigid demand for infrastructure defines it as purely engineering land, which blocks the closeness between humans and nature, and also cuts off the connection between villages and greenways.

Double Ended Ferrule

The birth of the Bai Mang rubbing project is a profound awakening and poetic reconstruction of this site.

Our design core lies in breaking down barriers and building open and shared public spaces; Cleverly using a three-dimensional composite strategy to ‘print’ natural and wild landscapes on top of infrastructure; Using the image of ‘white light’, reinterpret the site memory and weave a new bond between the village and the greenway.
